What to compare
- Service flow (gpm)
- At least your well pump's flow, or the house sees a pressure drop.
- Backwash flow (gpm)
- The well has to supply this during the nightly backwash; check it against your pump.
- Treatment range
- The iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide levels (mg/L) the maker rates the media for.
- pH range
- Some media need pH 6.8 or higher; acidic water needs a neutralizer first.
- Connection size
- Match the main line, usually 1" for a well.
